Most people, during their lifetime, take many examinations. There are tests in school and college, tests given by employers when we apply for a job, and even tests to obtain a driver’s license. Usually an examination is based on the information found in a standard manual or textbook, and we must learn what is in the book to pass the test.
But did you know that, no matter how many examinations you have taken during your lifetime, there is an even more important test coming? You will not face this test until after your life on earth is over. What is this test? You can read about it in 2 Corinthians 5:10: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” Someday Jesus Christ Himself will come and He will give to everyone of us the greatest “final exam” that ever was!
How can you prepare for this test so you can “pass” and receive eternal life? To begin with, you must study the textbook. In John 12:48 Jesus said: “The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge (you) in the last day.”
Then, after you understand what God’s word says, you must be sure you are obeying it. “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves” – 2 Corinthians 13:5.
What are some specific things you should examine to be sure you are acceptable in the Judgment Day? For one thing, you must examine your worship. Are you truly worshiping God “in spirit and in truth” as God instructs (John 4:24)?
And what about the church you attend? Are you a member of the church Jesus built, or are you a member of one of the many churches men have begun (Matthew 16:18; 15:9)?
Also you must examine your conversion. Have you truly believed in Jesus and been Scripturally baptized? Jesus said: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved” – Mark 16:16.
