One powerful group pushing these courses is SIECUS - the Sex Information and Education Council of the United States. What are the beliefs and purposes of this organization?
David Mace, former president of SIECUS, referred to Christian standards of sexual conduct as "totally unsupportable" because they are based on "Hebrew folklore" (SIECUS Circle, page 103). Is this what you want your children to be taught in school?
What does SIECUS believe about sexual relationships outside marriage: are they moral or immoral? Mary Calderone, Executive Director of SIECUS, was once asked this question. She replied: "Nobody on high determines this ... I do not believe that the old 'Thou shalt nots' apply anymore" (Look Magazine, 3/8/1966). Clearly she is denying that God has the right to command, "Thou shalt not commit adultery" - Exodus 20:14 (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
What about homosexuality? The official SIECUS position statement says: "It is the right of all persons to enter into relationships with others regardless of their gender ..." So SIECUS says homosexuality is the right of everyone (including your child), but the Bible says it is "vile passion," "against nature," "shameful," and "error" (Romans 1:26,27).
Finally, SIECUS says that every expectant teenager should be offered the alternative of abortion (Study Guide #14, page 20). But the Bible says that unborn babies are "children" - Genesis 25 :21,22. To kill them, therefore, would be shedding innocent human blood (Psalm 106:38).
What are your children being taught?
